Philip Marin Denman

Philip Marin Denman, born November 7, 1945 in New Orleans, LA, passed from this life on September 30, 2025 in Covington, LA. Philip was the beloved son of the late Ygnacio C. and Isabelle M. Denman.
Philip was a graduate of Jesuit High School in New Orleans, and of Southeastern Louisiana University, with a Bachelor's Degree in Experimental Psychology in 1969.
In the 1970's, Philip worked as a researcher in the LSU Medical School Department of Psychiatry, where he collaborated with Nobel Laureate Dr. Andrew Schally, and co-authored two peer-reviewed journal articles. From 1978 until 1986, he was employed by NASA at the Michoud Assembly Facility as part of the Quality Control team for the Columbia Space Shuttle.
Philip was also an accomplished photographer. His photographs appear in the permanent collection of the New Orleans Museum of Art; in Lost Restaurants of New Orleans by Peggy Scott Laborde and Tom Fitzmorris; on the cover of The Buster Holmes Restaurant Cookbook; in the Louisiana Photographers' Salon, and in many other venues.
In 1978, Philip began to photograph the Laurel Valley Sugar Plantation in Thibodaux, LA. His photographs of Laurel Valley were exhibited by Tulane University's Southeastern Architectural Archive in 2018. He continued to document the changes and deterioration of the ante-bellum era structures there until his final years.
