Andrew Parr Sellers, Sr. of Mandeville, La., passed away on October 27, 2025. He was born on February 4, 1947, in New Orleans and had been a resident of Mandeville for the past 26 years. He was the son of the late Roy Nolen Sellers, Sr., and Evelyn Parr Sellers. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeanie Ann Mailhes Sellers, and their three children: Andrew Parr Sellers, Jr. (Dr. Denise Powers) of Baton Rouge, Sean Thomas Sellers (Stephanie Frisch) of Algiers, and Erin Sellers Patrick (Michael Patrick) of Decatur, Georgia. His brother, Roy N. Sellers, Jr., resides in Kenner along with his family. "Papa" had five grandsons and one granddaughter: Thomas Sellers, Andrew Sellers, III, Patrick Sellers, Graham Sellers, Ian Patrick, and Annie Patrick.
Andrew graduated from Fortier High School in 1965 and received his B.S. and B.A. from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette. As an athlete at Fortier, Andrew earned the nickname "Handy Andy," and he lettered for three consecutive years in Baseball, Football, and Track. At USL, he was a proud member of an intramural sports team named "The Wimps." He was a tenor and bass player for the Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church Choir in Mandeville and formerly at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church in River Ridge. Andrew played bass professionally for the "Peace of Cake" jazz group out of Mandeville for several years. He was an active member of the Men's Spirituality Group, a volunteer at the Samaritan Center Food Bank, and an active member of the SAM ministry, all through MQP church. He frequently attended religious retreats at Manresa Retreat House in Convent, La. His favorite past times were traveling, playing music, and golf, and he was an active and proud member of the Over The Mountain Athletic Club (OTMAC) for 25 years. He had participated in the Greater New Orleans Senior Olympics. In the 1970s, he came in second place in a City-wide "Super Dad" competition. In the early 1980s, he had tried out, along with hundreds of area softball players, for what was supposed to be the New Orleans Pelicans professional underhand hard pitch softball team. He made the 27-man roster, but the league was cancelled prior to any games being played. His highly successful sales and marketing career included employment with Xerox, Bausch and Lomb, and Medtronic. Andrew was influential in instructing numerous physicians toward improving their surgical skills and implementing new techniques in Ophthalmology and Neurosurgery. Andrew also owned and managed Sellers Surgical. He had been the Facilitator for a GA meeting at St. Timothy's Church in Mandeville for over 10 years.
Andrew was a good Father, Husband, Provider, Athlete, and Friend.

Andrew your contributions to the Mary Queen of Peace Music Ministry will be missed as you touched the hearts of many in the choir and the parish. God has called you to join his heavenly choir of angels in heaven. Rest in Peace my friend.
