Richard Bordelon Obituary

Richard Adam Bordelon, aged 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 26th, surrounded by his family. Born to Wickliffe and Mary Bordelon in New Orleans, he graduated from Fortier High School before enlisting in the United States Army. He attained the rank of PFC E3 and served as Military Police until his honorable discharge. Bordelon later worked at Avondale Shipyard for 15 years, then established a self-employed career in home repair and renovations.

Richard lived a life of simplicity, reveling in the pleasures of cooking wholesome food, sharing moments with family, tending to his vegetable garden, and taking leisurely strolls along the bayou with his devoted dog, Rosie.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Carol Aiola Bordelon. After a brief separation following her recent passing, they are now reunited eternally. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Wickliffe and Mary Bordelon; his brothers John Bordelon of Slidell and Bailey (Billy) Bordelon of Metairie; and his sister Ann Bordelon Boyd of Monterey, La. He is survived by his daughter Tina Bordelon Gould (George), his grandson Leyton Gould, his sisters-in-law Cathy Bordelon, Sylvia Ingram and Delores Aiola; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15th from 12:00-2:00pm, with a Catholic service and a final salute with Taps to follow from 2:00-2:30pm at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St, New Orleans; family and friends are invited to attend.
