In Loving Memory of Philip Joseph Gaboriault Sept 8,1937- Oct 30, 2025 88 years old. Philip went home to our Lord peacefully surrounded by family Thursday early in the morning from natural causes.
Philip was born in Burlington VT. Predeceased by his mother Margaret Geraw and Father Peter Gaboriault, Jr. Philip attended Saint Francis Christian School in his formative years.
Philip was Predeceased in death by his beloved Wife and Life partner Georgianna ( Foster) Gaboriault and his brothers Richard and Junior Gaboriault.
Philip will be lovingly remembered by His daughter Penny Shea-Clifford and her siblings Georgie and husband Sam Tatro, Jeff Straley, Janet and husband Richard Marquis. His cherished grandchildren Chantal and husband Greg Eckman, Tyler Shea and wife Ieshia and Shaylin Clifford. He took pride in his Great-Grandchildren Malx, Tatiana, Borjia, Tristen,Tyler and Takoda.
As a young man Phil worked at The Brickyard in Essex, VT. Philip went on to work at A.D. Pease Grain Company in Burlington, VT near the waterfront for more than 30 years. When he wasn't working, which was rare, you could find him working on race cars or cars in general, or just tinkering around the farm or home. Philip would be up early in the morning enjoying taking care of his live stock cattle and pigs on a farm that he leased in Williston VT. Philip was happiest when he was outdoors feeling the sunlight on his skin. Hunting and fishing were favorite pastimes of his. Philip loved animals of any variety and especially enjoyed caring for the family cat, Chloe.
By any measure, Philip's life was remarkable when considering the traditional Vermont values and character and dedication of a hard working farmer and laborer. Philip was a true stalwart native, through and through. Simply ask him a question and what you got back in return was a quick-witted, honest, no-nonsense opinion. Philip was blinded in later life, and could often be seen with his cane navigating the sidewalks around his home in the south end Burlington Vermont.
Philip was our quiet Strength, our steadfast love. He will forever be In our hearts. We love you Papa.
A graveside service honoring his life will be held at a later date. Internment will be at the Mountain View Cemetery in Essex. All donations in his name can be sent to Saint Jude Children's Hospital which Philip held close to his heart. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Philip, please visit our Tree Store.
