Philip Patrick Gamgort, age 90, of Ocean View, DE, formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away on July 6, 2025. Born in Wilmington, Phil was the son of the late Elvira (Tritelli) and Ernest Gamgort. Phil was a 1952 graduate of Salesianum High School. After graduation, he worked as a lab technician at DuPont for almost forty years until he retired in 1992. Phil had a passion for real estate and was an agent from 1973 until 2020 when he moved to Ocean View. He served for eight years as a member of the Army National Guard and was a longtime member of St. John the Beloved Church.
Phil is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joene (Carney) Gamgort; his children and their spouses: Koleen Aulen (Bruce), Lynne Smith (Fred), Patrick Gamgort (Tara), and Michael Gamgort; his nine grandchildren: Tyler (Marianthi), Travis, and Tanner McElwee, Jordan and Kendall Aulen, and Sadie, Amber, Isaac and Zander Gamgort; three step-grandchildren: Brett and Dane Smith, and Jonathan Scott; his two great-grandsons: Philip and George McElwee; and his sisters: Marie DiMichele and Sr. Patricia Gamgort, OSB.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation on July 14, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 907 Milltown Road in Wilmington, with a mass immediately following. All are invited to the interment at All Saints Cemetery after the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Martin's House and Barn, 14374 Benedictine Lane, Ridgely, MD 21660 or Table of Plenty Outreach, c/o St. John the Beloved Parish Office, 907 Milltown Road, DE 19808.
