Philip Russell Geary, age 34, of Cheyenne, passed away at his home suddenly on November 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife. He was born in Wheatland, Wyoming, to Margaret Ann (Rains) Geary and his late father James Albert Geary (September 12, 1963 – March 31, 2013).

Philip was a proud blue-collar worker who loved working with his hands and solving problems. For the last six years, he was dedicated to Mobile Rail Service in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he found deep pride in being a locomotive mechanic—a job that fit his talent, curiosity, and love for machinery. Before that, he worked for Progress Rail in Douglas, Wyoming, and spent many years in the oil fields and in construction. He took immense pride in hard work, craftsmanship, and the sense of purpose that came with building, fixing, and creating.

Over the years, his work family became just as important to him as his own. Stan and Jeanie, Blake, and Maria Grogan were more than coworkers—they became a second family to Phil and Devon, offering support, friendship, and a bond that meant the world to both of them. Phil’s hobbies and passions were a reflection of his curious, hands-on, and fun-loving nature. He loved engaging in daily political debates with Matt Thompson, playing his guitars, hiking, fishing, and hunting. The outdoors brought him peace and kept him connected to his father through cherished memories. He had a deep love for 70s rock music and could often be found tinkering in the garage—taking apart old appliances and transforming them into new inventions. He also enjoyed helping friends with projects, whether it was repairing vehicles with Charles Cottam or working alongside Zach Luke Hart on home repairs—times filled with jokes, good company, and the kind of laughter and camaraderie Phil treasured. Phil loved creating things just so he could blow them up or take them out target shooting, finding joy and humor in those moments of playful creativity. He enjoyed learning, frequently watching documentaries or reading historical and political books, and he cherished quiet days at home with his wife and their animals—whether they were having a lazy day together or heading out into the woods. He was a deeply attentive and devoted uncle, always taking the time to teach, guide, and share his passions with the kids in his life. Whether showing them how to fish, letting them strum his guitars, or encouraging their curiosity, Phil poured his heart into those moments and made a lasting impact on his nieces and nephews. Phil loved animals and treasured every moment spent with his family and loved ones.

He is survived by: his loving wife, Devon Geary; his mother Margaret Ann (Rains) Geary; his Uncle Tim Geary; his siblings Jacqueline Dougherty (Kelly), Daphne Geary, and Brandon Johnson (Mallory); his father-in-law Terry Thompson; his mothers-in-law Terri Addsit and Marcy McNamee; his brothers-in-law Mathew Thompson, Frank Thompson (Faith), Jacob Thompson, Guy Weaver (Casey), and Derek Sovie (Brandy); his sister-in-law Nikki Parker (Myles); and multiple beloved nieces and nephews.

Philip was preceded in death by: his father James Geary; his uncle William Dave Geary; his aunt Katherine Rowbotham; his grandmother Francis Geary; his grandfathers Russell Geary and Marvin Geary; and his brother-in-law Lee Thompson.

Services: A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cheyenne Moose Lodge, 1019 S. Greeley Hwy, Cheyenne, WY 82007, on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 12:00 PM.
