Philip Max Gordon

Philip Max Gordon, age 83, of Lubbock, Texas and formerly of Sudan, Texas, died Sunday, March 8, 2026 in Lubbock. He was born August 26, 1942 in Amherst, Texas to Rufus Waymon and Letha Docia (Thomas) Gordon. He married Mary Ann Thomas in Olney, Texas on September 23, 1967.

Philip lived in Sudan for all of his life, until 2017, when he and Mary Ann moved to Lubbock. He was a graduate of Sudan High School, Class of 1960. He worked at First National Bank in Sudan for ten years. He then worked at Plant X for thirty-one years. Philip was a past member of the Sudan Volunteer Fire Department and the Sudan Lions Club. He also coached Little League baseball. He loved traveling to the mountains and fishing. Philip enjoyed going to concerts and cooking out with family and friends. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sudan. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Philip is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his son, Jeffery Gordon and his wife, Kristy of Lubbock, Texas; his daughter, Kay Lynn Barton and her husband, Chuck of Lubbock, Texas; a brother, Paul Gordon and his wife, Anita of Midlothian, Virginia; and his eight grandchildren, Bryan Gordon and his wife Michelle, Brad Gordon and his wife, Meagan, Danika Breeding and her husband, Bryson, Zachary Gordon and Madison Scully, Brennon Smith, Kellon Smith, Sydni Smith and Maci Smith and his four great-grandchildren, Kinsley Gordon, Charlee Gordon, Brynlee Gordon and Walker Gordon; and his niece, Paula Gordon and nephew, Chris Gordon.
