Tim Nix

Tim Nix, age 74, of Sudan, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 in Sudan. He was born August 6, 1951 in Lubbock, Texas to Bill and Joyce Nix. He married Joan Harper in Sudan on May 11, 1973.

After graduating high school in Sudan, Tim farmed for 13 years before transitioning to teaching at the Business College at Eastern New Mexico University. While there, he helped initiate satellite learning. Tim then taught at the College of Business at Texas Tech University, where he specialized in Health Organization Management. He was instrumental in developing the MD/MBA program at University Medical Center in Lubbock, and served on the application committee for the MD/MBA program. During his time at Texas Tech, Tim earned his doctorate as well. He was a member of the Sudan Toastmasters Club and the Sudan Lions Club. He had a passion for music, especially his twelve guitars, that he loved to play. Tim was a member of Sudan Methodist Church, where he served as a lay leader, president of the board, sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Joyce Nix; and his grandparents, R.D. and Vera Nix and Valton and Beula Coker.

Tim is survived by his wife, Joan; his two sons, Cameron Nix of Sudan, Texas and Mark Nix of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; his sister, Nancy Dawson and her husband, Ken of Tulia, Texas; and his five nephews and five nieces.
