Philip Mossor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chism Family Funeral Home - Vine Grove on Jan. 10, 2026.
Philip J. Mossor, 73, passed away December 29, 2025, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Philip was a military veteran of 23 years and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was born March 29, 1952 in Richie County, West Virginia to the late Roy G. and Vivian M. Mossor.

Philip was an avid reader and researcher, and had a wealth of knowledge on a variety of topics, especially those of his hobbies. He could often be found reading or talking about his favorite topics, and was rarely seen without his West Virginia or Pittsburgh gear on. His legacy will carry on, reminding all who knew him to keep learning, because there is always something you do not know.

Philip is survived and missed by his wife of over 50 years, Doris J. Mossor; sons, Thomas Flickinger (Debra), Michael Flickinger (Stephine), and Ralf John Elliott; grandchildren, Christine Birch, Tyler Flickinger (Ally), Devin Elliott, Colby Flickinger, Sydney Elliott, and Ava Elliott; and great-grandchildren, Adler Birch and Charlotte Flickinger. His memory also lives on through his siblings, Jennifer (Paul) Bowlsby, Suzanne Mossor, Leah (Jeff) Tunstall, Wes (Terry) Mossor, Steve (Connie) Mossor, Jeff Mossor, and Thresa (Fish) Prunty; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of a funeral service, Philip has returned home to West Virginia. To honor his memory, we invite you to enjoy a nice cigar or sip of bourbon in his memory. Though he may be gone, his stories, lessons, and love will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
