Obituary
Philip Mathew Potocki, of Mesick and formerly of the Chelsea area, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at his home. He was 51.
Phil was born on November 1, 1971 to Bill and Sandra (Burns) Potocki in Garden City, Michigan. On September 19, 1998, he entered into marriage with the former Dana Lipka in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Phil began his career working as a Park Ranger for the Michigan DNR at the Warerloo Recreation Area, then at Mitchell State Park, and finally at the Interlochen State Park. During his 25 plus years in the Michigan DNR, Phil mentored many people and left a far greater mark on them then he could have ever imagined. Phil also took great pride in his various roles at the MSEA union, and felt a deep sense of loyalty and responsibility to the union community that he represented. Phil was always up for an adventure and had an incredible ability to see opportunities to grow and expand the DNR connection in the communities he served.
Phil is survived by his loving wife, Dana Potocki of Mesick; children, Kaitlyn Elizabeth (Benjamin) Potocki-Olson of Cadillac, Amanda Rose Potocki of Mesick, Savana Rebekah Potocki of Mesick and David Josiah Potocki of Mesick; parents, Bill and Sandra Potocki; siblings, Benjamin Potocki, Christopher Potocki and Stephanie Potocki; nieces and nephew, Evelyn Potocki, Josephine Potocki, and Henry Potocki; mother-in-law, Valrie Lipka; brother-in-law, David (Nicole) Lipka; aunt-in-law, Susan (Richard) Villarreal; and many other loving family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 3 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior at Revival Center, formerly known as the Cherry Grove Event Center, with Rev. Will Markham to preside. Interment will take place downstate at Mount Hope Cemetery on Monday, October 9, 2023.
Please join the family on Saturday, October 7, 2023 following the visitation at the funeral home, to the Potocki home, providing an opportunity for everyone together as a community of Phil's family and friends to share memories, stories and support one another as Phil would've wanted.
