Phil graduated from Portland High School and served six years in the US Air Force as a jet engine mechanic. He lived in Melbourne Florida for over 30 years where he worked as a mechanic and Service Tech advisor for Ford Motor Company. Known to many of his family and CB radio friends as "Papa Bear" he was a loving, caring friend, father and brother. Phil was a dedicated volunteer with the Children's Miracle Network for many years. Phil was predeceased by his mother, Roberta Davis Ray. He is survived by his father Ed Ray and current wife Loraine of Sherman Mills, Maine; brother Danny and wife Mary of Portland, Maine; sister Linda and husband Jeff of Harrison Township, Michigan; sister Anita and husband Jeff of Limington, Maine; son Nathaniel Ray and wife Emily; daughter Robyn Douglas and husband Zak; daughter Anica Ray, David Larrivee and wife Marjorie of Tennessee and Renee Freeman and husband Charlie of Virginia as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
