Philip "Phil" Lee Rowan, passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on November 29, 1952, in Bloomington, Illinois, he grew to leave an indelible mark on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Phil led a life rich in love, laughter, and dedication both to his family and his profession
Phil's academic journey was distinguished, culminating in a Bachelor's degree in mathematics and a Master's degree in physics. His educational background laid a solid foundation for a successful career, where he served as a software engineer and manager at FlightSafety International.
Phil was characterized as a God-fearing, faithful, loving, kind, and generous man. He had an unmatched sense of humor, particularly known for his dad jokes and puns, which always brought laughter (or groans) to those around him. Phil's proudest accomplishments centered around his family. He took immense pride in raising children who cared deeply and followed their faith. He loved and cherished the moments spent with his wife, Mary Lynn Rowan, his son, Jonathan Rowan, and his daughter, Elisabeth Graham, who, together with his son-in-law, Michael Graham, brought joy and fulfillment to his life. He was close with his sister, Jill Vick, and enjoyed talking frequently. His numerous nieces and nephews, also held a special place in his heart.
Phil's interests were varied and enriched his life. He found fossil hunting fascinating and shared this passion with his daughter. He enjoyed peaceful moments fishing, his time gardening and also time spent solving crossword puzzles. His interest in politics also sparked many engaging conversations and debates.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Melba and Charles Rowan, as well as his brother-in-law, Kelly Vick, and grandparents, whose memories he treasured throughout his life.
A Visitation will take place on May 24, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Bonhomme Presbyterian Church located at 14820 Conway Road, Chesterfield, MO 63017, followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00 PM that same day.
