Philip Ruel of Dayton, Maine passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the age of 92. He was born on August 12, 1933.

Philip was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved being surrounded by his family.

Growing up on a farm, Philip was one of 10 children born to parents,

Gideon and Adrienne Ruel.

Upon returning from his time served in the United States Army during the Korean War, Philip met and married his wife, Lucille of 68 years. They had four children together.

Phillip is predeceased by his eldest son, Robert Ruel, who passed in 2020. He is survived by his wife, Lucille and children, Ralph Ruel and daughter in-law Madeleine Ruel, his eldest daughter Joanne Lemieux and son in-law Ronnie Lemieux, his youngest child Cathleen Cyr and son in- law Mark Cyr. As well as 8 grandchildren, Dale Ruel, Nicole Ruel, Joshua Ruel, Melissa Ruel, Christina Lemieux, Michael Lemieux, Casey Spencer, Molly Hussey and 6 great grandchildren, Mason Lemieux,

Michael Lemieux ll, Natalie Spencer, Nolan Fecteau, Daniel Gagnier, and Bonnie Spencer.

Phillip became a legend in the woods as a long-time logger. He was a self-made man starting his own logging business in his early 30's. Though he retired in his late 60's, he was still taking down trees well into his 80's. He never truly stopped working and not a day went by without accomplishing something. Saturday and Sundays were just another day of the week to him. He was very well known for his famous saying

"what, no work?".

One of his biggest passions was going to the fairs and being associated with the horse pulling events. Philip always looked forward to hunting season. He loved going hunting for deer or moose with his sons, grandsons and sons-in-law. He enjoyed summertime vegetable gardening,

mowing his lawn and he was an avid New England sports fan.

But nothing surpassed his love and devotion to his family. Philip truly

was a special man and will be missed by all family and friends.

A graveyard service will be held on September 26th, 2025 at 11 am at the Goodwins Mills Cemetery located in Lyman, ME. To be followed by a luncheon at the home of Philip and Lucille Ruel.
