Philip John Wagner
age 62, of Butternut, died at his home on Tuesday February 7, 2023 after a courageous fourteen year battle with cancer. He was born on June 1, 1960 in Park Falls, the son of William and Mary (Schrauth) Wagner. After graduating high school, Phil earned an associate degree in accounting. On July 5, 1980 he married Robin Schock in Glidden. Phil worked for NAPA Auto Parts for over 25 years. He was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he served as a Parish Trustee, a Lay Leader of Prayer, a Eucharistic Minister, and RCIA leader. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Phil enjoyed riding his motorcycle, going to the races in Ashland, brewing and enjoying micro-brewed beers, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of forty two years, Robin, his two children: Christopher Wagner of Oshkosh and Emily Wagner and Joe of Brooklyn, NY, his siblings: Vicky (Tim) Wagner-Pritzl of Prentice, Michael (Ruthie) Wagner of Tappan, NY, James (Rosalie) Wagner and Leonard (Janice) Wagner, both of Kansas City, his brothers and sisters-in-law: Michael Lom, Linda Lopas, Donna (Tom) Cummings, Dale Schock, and Dan (Becca) Schock, his dear family friend Maxine Kilger, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held at the church on Sunday from 3:00pm until 6:00pm with a Prayer Vigil at 6:00pm and on Monday from 10:00am until the hour of the Mass.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Butternut on Monday February 13, 2023 at 11:00am. Fr. Shaji Pazhukkathara, Deacon Robert Schienebeck, and Deacon Chet Ball will co-officiate.
Burial will follow at St. Cecelia Catholic Cemetery in Butternut.
