Philippe Anthony Aoun, 87, of
Danville, NH, passed away this month at Lahey Hospital in Burlington.
Born on May 5, 1938, in Saida, Lebanon, Philippe was the son of Anton and Eugenia (George) Aoun. He was raised and educated in Saida, where he began cultivating the talents that would lead him to a lifelong career in architecture and construction. After graduating high school, Philippe embarked on a professional journey that took him across the world. His work brought him to Libya, Sudan, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, India, and numerous other countries, where he contributed to the construction of bridges, housing developments, airports, and other critical infrastructure. Dedicated and driven, he often spent months to years away from home, working tirelessly to bring these projects to life.
In 1960, Philippe married the love of his life, Nawale (Ata) Aoun, and together they shared 65 years of marriage. They welcomed their first of five children in 1961, and over the decades their family grew to include seven beloved grandchildren and a cherished great grandson. Philippe's family remembers him as a true jokester-someone who could always bring laughter into a room. He had an extraordinary knack for making things happen, whether he was building something from nothing or taking something down with precision and ingenuity. Even at 84 years old, he climbed a 100 foot tree at his Danville home to remove its top branches-an act that perfectly captured his courage, capability, and determination. To Philippe, nothing was ever impossible.
He had a deep love for animals, both pets and those he encountered outdoors. His children fondly remember the day he brought home a pet monkey named Mimi-an unforgettable addition to their household. Philippe also enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, and music, and he especially treasured family gatherings and traveling the world with those he loved.
Philippe is survived by his wife, Nawale (Ata) Aoun; his children Eugenie Sahyouni and her husband Pierre of Lawrence, Lorina Ata and her husband Hani of Lawrence, Marta Aoun-Abdou of Lawrence, Bassam Aoun and his wife Claire Hashem-Aoun of
