Phillip Bailey Obituary

Phillip K. Bailey, age 70, of Malvern, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026, after a fight with lung cancer. He was born January 18, 1955, the son of Eldridge and Eula B. Bailey.
Phil's life was filled with many interests and careers. He worked at Grissom Engine Rebuilding and also Grissom Body Shop while in high school (Class of '73) and for a few years afterward. He then became an officer for the Malvern Police Department for several years, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He had worked as a truck driver for Bruce Oakley before embarking on several business ventures of his own. In 1992 he formed Bailey's Towing and Recovery, where he also repaired damaged vehicles. A few years later he became interested in rental property and created P&D Properties, LLC.
Phil had many hobbies that he was always ready to discuss with anyone – flying small planes, racing boats, camping, fishing, motorcycles, and he was always in the process of restoring some vehicle or building something. He served on the Civil Service Commission for many years, was a constable for Fenter Township, and was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner.
Phil is preceded in death by his parents and previous wives Pam Gosnell Bailey Glaze, Judy Edwards Bailey Matthews (mother of his children), and Debbie Warwick Bailey.
Survivors include his wife, Amanda Hughes Bailey; twin sisters, Sue Parrish (Ron) and Jane Blackerby (Thomas); children, Shawn Bailey, David Bailey, Angie Bailey Rhodes, and Jody Bailey; stepdaughters, April Crews, Briana Hoover (Hunter), and Madison Crews; nieces and nephews with whom he has had a special relationship their entire lives, Mark Blackerby (Cassie), Adam Blackerby (Peyton), Beth Lambert Allen (Trevor), and Blake Lambert (Samantha); and a very special employee for 19 years in his towing business who was like a son to him, Michael Benjamin Smith (Melissa). Upon Phil's retirement in 2021, he sold his towing business to Mike and Melissa.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 8, from 6-8 p.m. in the Regency Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Service will be Friday, January 9, at 2:00 p.m. in the Regency Funeral Home Chapel in Malvern, AR, with Bro. Don Goodman, former pastor of Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church where Phil was a member, officiating. Burial will be a Clear Creek Cemetery on Country Club Road in Malvern, AR, with Masonic Rites.
Pallbearers will be Mike Smith, Charlie Puckett, Mark Blackerby, Adam Blackerby, Beth Lambert Allen, and Blake Lambert.
Honorary Pallbearers are his brothers in the Masonic Lodge.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Misty Douthit, APRN, who was Phil's main medical provider and good friend for several years. Donations in Phil's honor may be made to Clear Creek Cemetery Association, 1601 Miller Street, Malvern, AR 72104.

Ol Sarg. Always made me laugh and might have cut me some discounts on some of them towing fees. You are in my thoughts and prayers as is your family. Love and Peace Brother.
