Phillip Baldwin Obituary
Phillip Rowland "PR" Baldwin, 79, of Callahan, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2025 after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 14, 1945, in Charleston, West Virginia, Phil grew up with six brothers and two sisters. In the 1970s, he moved to Jacksonville, Florida, after transferring with Greyhound Bus Lines. Shortly after, he met the love of his life, Lynn (Barbara Lynn Boyd). The two married and eventually settled in Callahan, Florida, where they built a life full of love, laughter, and dedication. Phil and Lynn were married for 48 wonderful years.
Phil was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Lynn; his children, James (Guadalupe) Baldwin, Pam (Jared) McBee, and Sam (Chelsie) Baldwin; and his beloved grandchildren, Tyler McBee, Emily Starks, Seth (Lexi) Baldwin, Hattie (Luke) Baldwin, Harlee (Kelsey) Weems, Malekai Morris, Maveryk Morris, and Macie Grayson. He was also blessed with several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. Phil was preceded in death by his daughter, Beth Ann.
Phil was well known for his passion for driving. He proudly worked for Greyhound Bus Lines for 44 years, during which he traveled the United States and Canada, a remarkable achievement that reflected his love for the open road and meeting people from all walks of life. His dedication to his work and his warm, steady presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
After retiring from Greyhound, Phil continued to give back to his community in every way he could. Whether he was cheering from the stands at the local ballpark or lending a helping hand at nearby schools, Phil's presence was always a source of joy. Never one to sit still for long, he took a job at the Callahan Winn-Dixie, not out of necessity, but because he loved making people smile. His laughter, kindness, and familiar wave in the aisles became a cherished part of many neighbors' daily routines.
Though he traveled far and wide, Phil's greatest joys were found at home – watching football and NASCAR, spending time with his beloved dog Gabby, and cruising in his cherished 1975 Ford Bronco. He was a lifelong fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers and never missed a chance to cheer them on. Phil's legacy is one of kindness, hard work, and unwavering love for his family. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his sense of humor, and the joy he brought to those around him.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Callahan on Thursday, June 12 at 11 a.m., with a visitation scheduled at 10.
