Phillip E. Blanchfield, age 83 of Oshkosh, WI passed away on October 24, 2025, at Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.
Phillip was born on January 10, 1942, to the late Joseph and Elaine (Herren) Blanchfield in Schofield, WI. He graduated from D.C. Everest Senior High School and went on to continue his education before beginning his engineering career in the paper industry. Phillip was the owner of Creative Machine Design and took great pride in his work and the success of his designs. The paper industry gave him the opportunity to travel and see many parts of the world, including the Great Wall of China.
Phillip married Mae Marie Miller on August 24, 1968, at St John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Oshkosh, WI. Together, Phil and Mae built their home in Stephensville, WI. This continued to be their country home until they both transitioned to Aspire Memory Care in Oshkosh this past summer. Phil and Mae built many lifelong friendships with their neighbors “on the hill” and will cherish those memories.
During their 57 years of marriage, they shared many interests including their love of history, raising dogs and traveling. They both were active members of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Appleton. Phil was a master craftsman and built much of the furniture in their home and restoring old furniture. He enjoyed all things trains and antique watches.
Phillip is survived by wife, Mae, his brother Donald (Judy) Blanchfield of South Carolina along with three generations of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Virginia Wegner, brother-in-law’s Myron (Rosemary) Miller and Milo (Judie) Miller.
A service, led by Pastor Joe Gawel, will be held on Monday, November 3rd, at Mount Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church, 930 E. Florida Ave, Appleton, WI. Visitation will be held at 9:30 am and continue until the start of the service at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Shiocton-Bovina-St. Denis Cemetery following the service.
Phil's family would like to thank the staff at Froedert in Milwaukee, the Aspire Memory Care Team in Oshkosh for their support and compassion. A special thank you to his nephew, Matt Miller, for all of his additional kind-heartedness he gave Uncle Phil over the past two years.
