Carter Funeral Home respectfully announces the restful transition of
Mr. Phillip Bernard Calloway of Midway,AL
Mr. Calloway (55) transitioned into eternity October 15, 2023 at his residence.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farewell Celebration will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 12 noon from the sanctuary of the Historic St
James CME church of Midway, Pastor Rickey Jones.
The message of comfort and acceptance will be provided by Pastor Mack Birks.
Interment will follow in Sandtown Cemetery.
Respecting current COVID sensitive precautions, all attendees are requested to practice social distancing and implement the responsible use of facial coverings.
Mr. Phillip Bernard Calloway was born March 19, 1968, to
the late Otis Calloway and Elva Mae Burke.
At an early age he confessed a belief in Christ and joined St.
James C.M.E. Church in Midway, Alabama.
Phillip attended Bullock County High School, later dedicating
his service working at Chattahoochee Veneer Mill, in
Eufaula, Alabama for several years. He also worked at the
Senior Citizen's Nutrition Site, Midway, Alabama. Phillip
was a dedicated worker there, until his illness caused him
to leave.
He departed this life peacefully on October 15, 2023, at his
home.
Left to cherish Phillip's earthly life are, a loving and devoted
mother, Elva Mae Calloway, Midway, AL; two daughters:
Shanita and Tiarra Calloway; two grandchildren: De'Cari
Stamper and Mariyah Hanes, all of Union Springs, AL; five
sisters: the late Alieen Calloway, Christine (Ronnie) Parker,
Rachel Calloway, Patricia Calloway Parham, and Sharonda
Calloway, all of Midway, AL; six brothers: James (Angela)
Calloway, Union Springs, AL, Desmond Calloway, Marvin
Calloway, Auburn, AL, Ricky Calloway, Urlee Calloway, and
Ronnie Joiner, Midway, AL; several nieces and nephews;
several loving cousins; including a devoted cousin, Hermetta
Williams; a devoted friend, Michael Parham; and several
loving friends, co-workers, and classmates; along with a
bonus child, Reggie Mahone.
