A Memorial Service will be held for Phillip Collier,77, on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, LA 71111. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. The speakers will be Phillip’s good friend Hewitt Kersee and his brother Joseph Collier.
Phillip was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan on May 28, 1945, to Noble and Nelwyn Collier. He passed away on May 12, 2023.
Phillip graduated from Pickering High School in 1963 and enrolled at Northwestern State University where he met and married Evelyn Sullivan. He graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and took a teaching position in Port Arthur, Tx. He moved his family back to the Shreveport-Bossier area in 1967 where he worked for various companies in the oil and manufacturing industries. In 1989 he secured a position as Instrument Analyst/Chemist for the City of Shreveport at the Amiss Water Plant where he worked until his retirement in 2011. After his retirement, he worked various part-time jobs.
He was an outdoorsman, and he loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed sitting on his back porch drinking his coffee and watching the birds at the feeders. Phillip liked his sports teams. Don’t ever get between him and the TV if the Houston Astros, Dallas Cowboys, or LSU were playing.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Noble and Nelwyn Collier; infant daughter, Lori Ann Collier; brothers, Chester Collier, John Collier, and Tom Horton; and sister, Candace Collier.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 57 years, Evelyn Collier; sons, Kit Collier of Shreveport, LA and Paul Collier (Shasta) of Hitchcock, TX; daughter, Tammy Jacobson (Darin) of Benton, LA; granddaughters, Heather Jacobson of Benton, LA; Mackenzie and Bailey Collier of Shreveport, LA; sister, Sheila Davis of Anacoco, LA; and his brother, Joseph Collier (Margaret) of Waxahachie, TX.
The family would like to thank all the nurses, techs, and therapists at Intensive Specialty Hospital in Bossier City for the love and care they showed to Phillip during his stay.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105, Shriners Hospital, 3100 Samford Ave, Shreveport, LA 71103, or a charity of your choice.
