Lt. Col. William H. "Bill' Cantrell, Retired

Bill was born in Greenville, Texas to Earl Griffin and Jane Tucker Cantrell on September 29, 1943. He passed away September 1, 2025 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He attended Fair Park High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1960. He served in Germany, which he loved. He came home in 1963 to attend college at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. He was commissioned an officer after graduation. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel, something he was very proud of.

He spent his life in the insurance business but you could always find him playing pool. He excelled at the sport. He played APA pool until about a year ago when his eyesight began to fail him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, cousins, and many extended family members. He is survived by his wife, Doris, his children, Kim Cantrell, Robert Cantrell and wife, Bonnie. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brandon and Christian Canada, Logan and Mason Cantrell, Jenna Kate and Madalyn Washington, and Arlyne Cantrell, mother of his children.

Graveside services will be held September 19, 2025 at 11:30 at the Northwest Louisiana Veteran's Cemetery in Keithville. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Garden Park Nursing Home, the VA Medical Center, and Christus Hospice for the care of Bill over the last six months.
