We are all better people for having known Phil Cox. His enthusiasm for life, leadership of the young and passion for the sport of basketball at Connersville and Kokomo. His life and memory will live for generations because of the lessons he passed on.

My thoughts and prayers are with both Coach Coxs family and the Kokomo Basketball Family. I cannot say that anyone had a larger impact on me as a youth growing up in the basketball world. His message and positivity transcended the sport and taught me valuable life lessons about the power of being positive, determined and having belief. I have countless fond memories of my time under Coach Cox that make me smile to this day. He was a larger than life figure in many of our lives that left lasting impact on all of us. I wish I could be there to celebrate him with everyone else but being in Afghanistan I cannot. Please note that this loss was felt around the world and he will be mourned here as well.
Sending love,
Kyle Fortson

My late wife, Russena Comer, worked many years at Kokomo High School with Phil. She always held him in high regard and enjoyed working with him on a daily basis. I came to know him through her and always admired his zest for life. I know he will be missed in the community. Condolences to the family during this sad time.

I pray that in the midst of your sorrow you find comfort in all the joyful memories shared...
What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. We may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.
