Phillip B. Eiche, 94, of Apalachin, NY, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, and has now joined his beloved wife, Suzan, in eternal rest. Phillip is also predeceased by his loving grandchild Alec.
Born in Arcadia, Nebraska on November 7, 1930, Phillip's family relocated to Union Pier, Michigan when he was twelve. It was in high school that he met the love of his life, Suzan, and they married shortly after. Together they shared 63 wonderful years filled with love and companionship until her passing in 2014.
Phillip was a dedicated father to his five children: Phillip (Margaret), Curt (Brooke), Suzan (William), James (Karen), and Eric (Deborah). His legacy continues through his loving grandchildren: Jessica (Kevin), Allyson (Julian), Andrew (Adrianna), Kevin (Amanda), Thomas (Kimberly), Alec (deceased), Joel, Bethany (Jeffrey), Megan (Brianna), Amy, and Erica (Emanuel), and his many great-grandchildren: Annie, Charlotte, Lucy, August, Sydney, Quinn, Liam, Bennett, Chloe, Cecilia, Leo and Giovanni. He was a cherished Grandpa and Great Grandpa, always present and supportive.
In his younger years, Phillip was a talented three-sport athlete, excelling in baseball, football, and basketball. His passion for sports continued throughout his life as an avid bowler, golfer, and softball player, actively participating in IBM leagues and local tournaments. He proudly served his country during the Korean War. Following his service, he pursued higher education, earning his engineering degree from Michigan State University while beginning his family, and later a Master's Degree from Syracuse University.
In 1958, Phillip moved his growing family to Endicott, NY, embarking on a successful 33-year career with the newly established IBM Federal Systems Division in Owego. In 1967, the family settled in Apalachin, NY. At IBM, Phillip's dedication and expertise led to his advancement to a senior management position in electronic warfare systems engineering. Family was paramount to Phillip, and summers were often spent on memorable road trips to Michigan and a remarkable cross-country adventure in 1969. Upon retirement, Phillip and Suzan enjoyed spending their winters at their Florida condo, creating lasting memories and enthusiastically supporting their grandchildren's various endeavors.
A devout Catholic and active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Phillip received excellent care for the last four years of his life at Elizabeth Church Manor Nursing Home. His family deeply appreciates the compassionate and kind care provided by the nurses, aides and staff.
A Funeral Mass for Phillip will be held on Thursday, June 5th at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main St, Vestal, NY 13850. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Church on Thursday, June 5th from 9:30 am until Mass time at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Phillip's memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Diabetes Foundation.
