Phillip Floyd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Metropolitan Funeral Service - Granby Chapel on Jan. 24, 2026.
Today, we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Phillip Floyd-a son, a brother, an uncle, and a friend whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and love to everyone who knew him.

Phillip was born on October 26, 1973, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Louise Williams and Phillip Spain. On January 18, 2026, at the age of 52, Phillip completed his earthly journey and entered into eternal rest.

Phillip was known for his incredible sense of humor. He had a way of lifting spirits, brightening rooms, and turning ordinary moments into memories that still make us smile. His laughter was contagious, his timing perfect, and his heart always open.

He was also a hardworking man. Phillip spent most of his career in construction, where he took pride in doing things the right way. His dedication, strength, and reliability were evident in everything he touched.

Phillip enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved watching sports, especially football, and he was a die hard Washington Redskins fan from beginning to end. Whether they won or lost, Phillip stood by his team with unwavering loyalty.

Music was another part of his soul. He found comfort and joy in the smooth, soulful voice of Anita Baker. Her songs became the soundtrack to many of his days, offering peace, reflection, and moments of pure enjoyment.

Above all, Phillip loved his family. Time spent with his mother, his sibling, and his loved ones meant everything to him. Family gatherings, conversations, shared meals, and quiet afternoons-these were the moments he cherished most.

Phillip leaves behind a family who loved him deeply his mother, Louise Williams, and her husband, Steve Williams; his father, Phillip Spain; his sibling, Reginald Floyd; his niece, Tyonnia Floyd; his uncles, Willie Floyd (Rochelle) and Earl Floyd (Wanda); his aunts, Annette Bowser (Irving) and Carolyn Floyd; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin & Quana, and Edward, who held a special place in his life; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends who were touched by his kindness, humor, and love.

Phillip's legacy is one of laughter, loyalty, and heart. He touched lives not through grand gestures, but through the everyday ways he showed up-with humor, with love, and with a presence that made people feel cared for.

Though we will miss him deeply, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on-in every story we share, every smile he inspired, and every memory we hold close.

May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the same warmth he brought into our lives.
