Phillip Vernon Forstad, 69, of Lutz, passed away on March 28, 2025. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to his parents, Vernon and Elizabeth Forstad. Known for his sharp wit and infectious one-liners, Phillip lived a life full of adventure, service,
and love. He began his career with the U.S. Air Force, serving four years as a computer specialist at the S.A.C. base in Grand Forks, North Dakota, before working at Control Data in Minneapolis, MN. There, he met his lifelong partner, Larinda, who would be his sidekick for the next 42 years. They married in 1983 and relocated to Florida, where he continued his career in
telecommunications with companies such as GTE, Alltel, and Verizon.
In retirement, Phillip fulfilled a lifelong dream by working at the Kennedy Space Center, where he was star-struck by the very place that fueled his childhood curiosity. His love for exploration didn't end there-he also volunteered with Friends of Acadia at Acadia National Park, combining his passion for nature with his dedication to giving back.
Outside of work and volunteering, Phillip had a deep love for the outdoors which he shared with son, Kevin. He enjoyed hiking, camping, and RVing, often embarking on adventures with his family. He was also a true car enthusiast, particularly passionate about motorsports and working on his '66 Plymouth Belvedere. He enjoyed time with his partner in crime and nap buddy, Casey. His love for life was matched only by his love for building models, fishing, scuba diving, and the joy of a good road trip.
Phillip will be remembered for his generosity, his ever-present sense of humor, and his ability to share his knowledge with anyone willing to listen. His legacy of love, curiosity, and dedication to his family and passions will continue to inspire all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Elizabeth (Ritter) Forstad; brother, Paul Forstad and his father in law, Robert Hammons. He is survived by his loving wife, Larinda Kay (Hammons) Forstad; son, Kevin Allen Forstad; two sisters, Denice Dewaelsche and Marilyn Forstad; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, sisters and brothers in laws.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Phillip Forstad's name to Friends of Acadia (43 Cottage Street, Bar Harbor, Maine 04609), to support a place that was very special to him.
