Phillip Arthur Gale, 64, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, at CRMC after a courageous battle with ALS.

Phillip was born on March 27, 1961, in Yakima, Washington, to David and Saundra Gale. He spent his childhood in Vancouver, Washington, and graduated from high school in 1979. In 1981, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, where he dedicated more than 20 years of service to his country. Through hard work, leadership, and commitment, Phillip earned the rank of Senior Chief, a title he carried with great pride.

After retiring from the Navy, Phillip continued his career as an inspector with Columbia Aircraft in Bend, Oregon until 2007, when the company was acquired by Cessna. He remained in his role following the acquisition and, in October 2009, relocated to Independence, Kansas, where he continued working until March 2024. He was known among his coworkers for his strong work ethic and positive demeanor.

Outside of work, Phillip was known for his adventurous spirit and love of the outdoors. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and driving his Jeep through trails across Colorado, Kansas, and Oklahoma. He was a devoted NASCAR fan, especially of Jimmie Johnson, and a loyal supporter of the Seattle Seahawks. Phillip was also an active member of several organizations, including the Coffeyville Jeepers, the Coffeyville Aviation Heritage Museum, Tribe M/C Nomad, and VA-95 Green Lizards.

Despite the challenges he faced in his final years, Phillip met his battle with ALS with strength and determination. He will be remembered for his sense of adventure, loyalty, and love for his family.

Survivors include his wife, Terry Gale; son Tannes Gale; daughter Lydia Bart, and son-in-law Adrian Bart; stepdaughters Felisha and Chelsea Whitworth; parents David and Saundra Gale; brothers Bruce and Allen Gale; sisters-in-law Shanda and Deanna Gale; cousin Steve Fund; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Phillip will be remembered for his kindness and the impact he had on those around him. Family and friends are invited to gather to pay their respects on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, located at 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, KS, from 2 PM to 6 PM. This will be a cherished opportunity for those who knew him to say their goodbyes.

Following the viewing, cremation will take place, and a Memorial Service to honor Phillip’s life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11 AM at the same chapel. The family kindly requests that any memorial contributions be made payable to Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel to help with final expenses.
