Phillip Karriker Obituary
at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital.
He was born on February 12, 1936 in Iredell County, NC to the late Lewis Mitchell and Eve Smith Karriker. Mr. Karriker was a life time member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in China Grove, NC, where he served on the church council, was treasurer for over 30 years, and served on various other committees.
Mr. Karriker worked for Thrivent Health (Lutheran Brotherhood) Insurance company for 30 years. Mr. Karriker valued all of his clients and was very meticulous with all of their information and follow through to make sure they all had the coverage they needed.
Mr. Karriker was a US Army veteran serving in Fort Knox, Kentucky in the Artillery Division. He also enjoyed woodworking, making household furniture and toys for the kids and grandkids. He was a charter member of the Tar Heel Squares Square Dance Club in China Grove, as well as a charter member of Pines Recreation Club. He was a life time farmer and always took pride in his garden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joann Karriker MacDonald.
He is survived by his wife of 69 1/2 years, Peggy Beaver Karriker; son, Coyt M. Karriker; daughter, Teresa Karriker Kelly; grandchildren, Sydney, Tyler, Scotland; and seven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 16 from 1:00-3:00 PM at Concordia Lutheran Church Family Life Center. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM in the church with Rev. Carlin Ours officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
