Phillip Bass McDonald, 72, died Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at his home in Lebanon, TN. He was born at Martha Gaston Hospital in Lebanon, TN to the late Clarence R. McDonald and Nannie E. (Nancy) Bass McDonald.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother in law, Roy Douglas Howell. He is survived by his sister, Bettie Kaye Howell and cousins.
He was raised in Watertown and was a member of Watertown United Methodist Church. He was educated in Wilson County schools, at the Wilson County Vocational Center and Prospect, who helped him find employment at Humana Hospital McFarland in 1979 as a dishwasher and kitchen helper. He later transferred to University Medical Center and retired there in January 2020 after forty years of service. Phillip was a big wrestling and football fan, had many friends, was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Visitation for Phillip will be held Sunday, August 10th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m and again on Monday, August 11th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m at Partlow Funeral Chapel. Pastor Jim Norton will officiate the services. Interment will take place at the Poplar Hill Cemetery. Family members and friends will serve as active pallbearers.
