Phillip Lee Porter, beloved owner of Porter's Lock and Key and locksmith for 51 years in Charlotte, NC and surrounding areas, passed away on May 23, 2023 in Concord, NC at the age of 69. He was born on February 5, 1954 in Charlotte to Jackson Charles Porter and Mamie Lee Porter.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Jason Porter, brothers Barry and Charles Porter and sister Joyce Ann Rogers.
Phillip will always be remembered for his love of making memories with his family, especially his grandchildren. He played drums with his grandson Dalton and enjoyed spending time with all of them. Phillip loved fishing of any type, enjoyed BBQing and would have BBQ cook-offs with his brothers. He had a great sense of humor that was often showcased by the nicknames he gave to those he loved.
Phillip was never one to shy away from meeting new people and always made a point to say hello to his neighbors. He enjoyed sitting on his porch and keeping an eye out for them. Phillip had a way of making people feel welcomed wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Paula Porter; children Landon Brett Porter and Leah Arwood (James); grandchildren Landon Brett Porter Jr., Braiden Childers, Harrison Hillman, Brittane Porter, Jaden Cody, Alyssa Porter, Shyla Cody and Dalton Arwood; siblings Richard "Bo" Porter, John Porter Kathy Harkey Beverly Cartee Ron Porter and Jerry Porter.
Phillip Lee Porter will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace knowing he made a positive impact on the world around him through the countless memories he created and kindness he always showed.
Phillip's services will be held on May 27, 2023 at Raymer-Kepner Chapel (16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC 28078). A viewing will take place from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM.
