Phillip Birch Springer, 93, of Avon, passed away peacefully at his home on July 11, 2024. He was born September 6, 1930 to the late William and Thelma (Shore) Springer in Sullivan, IN. He was an US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Plainfield Masonic Lodge #653, the Indianapolis Scottish Rite, the Indianapolis Shrine, the VFW Post 68 (for over 50 years) and the American Legion. Phil worked for Indiana Bell (AT&T) as a switchman and surveyor until his retirement. He was a loving father, devoted husband and a loyal friend. Phil is survived by two sons, Jeffery P. (Gigi) Springer and Adam B. Springer; a daughter, Kristi K. (Patrick) Burris; and a sister, Paula Ann Hanson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary K. Springer. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 15, 2024 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Monday from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow with military honors at Washington Park North Cemetery, Indianapolis.
