Phillip Vayhinger Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 21, 2025.
Phillip Allan Vayhinger, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, at the age of 81. He was born March 13, 1943, in Madison, Indiana to Charles and June Vayhinger, and grew up in Madison.

He married the love of his life, Anne Beetem Vayhinger, on August 22nd, 1964, and graduated from Hanover College with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Physics in 1967. Together, they had three sons ("The Boys") and they built a life around their family and friends. They raised The Boys in Madison, and while Phil loved his small hometown, he also loved the beach! In 1998, they moved to Jacksonville Beach, Florida.

Phil's legacy extends through his family. He is survived by his wife Anne, his older brother Jack Vayhinger and his wife Janet, his younger sister Sandy and her husband Marty Vanderburg, his children Darran Vayhinger and his wife Kathleen, Cary Vayhinger and his wife Tamra, and Greg Vayhinger and his wife Alana, and his cherished grandchildren Carson, Brayton, Kenzie, Brooks, Jace, and Emma. He was predeceased by his parents, June and Charles.

A celebration of Phil's life will be held on January 25, 2025, at Ocean City Church, 102 6th Ave North, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250, with services beginning at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Ocean City Church, reflecting Phil's deep love and commitment to the community he called his Church home.

Phil's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His kindness, humor, and love will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Oh the fun times we had with the Vayhinger Family...a lifetime of amazing memories! Living across Hillcrest Drive brings so many stories to mind. On one morning Phil woke up so excited saying...Anne, it's a miracle I can see! Turns out he fell asleep with his glasses on.
It was impossible not to smile when Phil started laughing....always contagious!
He will be missed by so many including our family. Thanks for all the laughs and all the happy Hillcrest memories.
Love, The Posz Family

It was Phil and Anne (with our parents Chuck and Peggy) who taught me to love Neil Diamond singalongs, epic multi-family vacations to Ocean Isle, cheering on Miss Madison at the Regatta, amazing margaritas on the roof at St. George Island. My every memory of time with the Vayhingers has smiles and laughs attached. We will see you soon Phil.

We always had so much fun going to the beach on family vacations. My fondest memory was of Phil laughing to the point of crying as we watched the Benny Hill show. Always a highlight on our summer vacations.
