Phillip D. Waide, 94, of Parkersburg, WV passed away December 9, 2024 with the compassionate care of WVU Medicine Camden Clark in Parkersburg, WV.
Son of the late Genevive Caroline and Norville Owens Waide, Phillip was born April 13, 1930 in Smithville, WV in Ritchie County. Phillip joined the United States Army in 1948. While stationed at Lakenheath Suffolk, England, he met his beloved Margaret May Walton. They married on December 24, 1953, and shared 60 years of marriage together.
Following his service in the military, Phillip worked as a truck driver for most of his adult life for Gene Davis Transportation. After retiring, Phillip enjoyed listening to country and western music, repairing small engines for friends and family, and especially enjoyed Nascar. Some would even have considered him a "racer" for the love he had for the sport.
In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Waide; daughter, Susan Cremeans; sister, Lois Dodd; two stepbrothers, Buck Waide and Delvin Waide, and best friend, Kester Hardman.
He is survived by his daughter, Debra Lynn Johnston (Jim) of Belpre, OH; son, Phillip Robert Waide (Jane) of Parkersburg, WV; four grandchildren, Rick Cremeans, Mike Cremeans, Ashley Elizabeth Waide and Alyssa Marie Johnston (James); as well as several other loved ones.
Per Phillip's wishes, a private cremation will take place at Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home and a celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
Vaughan Kimes is honored to serve the Waide family.
