Kernersville – Mr. Phillip Ray West, Jr., 58, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Kate B. Reyolds Hospice Home. He was born on September 29, 1966, in Forsyth County to Philip Ray West, Sr. and Janet Zyvith West. Phil was a faithful and active member of Triad Baptist Church. He had such a big heart and was very generous both with his time and monetarily. Phil loved to take care of his yard, often saying that mowing was therapeutic for him. He also loved to travel to the beach and listen to Jimmy Buffett. Phil was a grill master, computer nerd, and an avid Tar Heel fan. He was a loving husband, father, son, and puppy Pawpaw and he will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 36 years, Janet West; daughter, Tori West; his mother, Janet Z. West; his uncle, Bryan Zyvith (wife, Betsy); cousins, Bailey Zyvith and Wesley Hudson (wife, Adrianne); brother-in-law, Brian Dunbar (wife, Stephanie); sister-in-law, Denise Phelps (husband, John); four nieces and nephews, Jesse Dunbar (wife, Lexie), Savanah Camden (husband, Logan), Dalton Phelps (wife, Sara), and Brianna Medlin (husband, Tucker); one great nephew and light of the family, John Carter Camden; and his grandpuppy, Chief.
A Celebration of Life service for Phil will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Triad Baptist Church with Dr. Rob Decker, Pastor Steve Roberson, and Mr. Alan Comer officiating. The family will informally receive friends starting at 10:00 am prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, 27103. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
