Phillip West Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman Southwest Funeral Home on Jan. 13, 2026.
Phillip Lee West, Jr., age 50, was reunited with his dad, Phillip, Sr. on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
He came into this world on May 20, 1975 in Louisville, Kentucky, where he eventually attended both Butler Traditional and Western High Schools. Phillip had an utter love and devotion to his family and the University of Kentucky Wildcats, although we're not quite sure in which order. At his very core, he valued traditions, and he remembered even the most insignificant and trivial memories, although none of it was insignificant to him. Although he was a man of few words, he was a man of many thoughts, and nobody better disagree: Jordan is the GOAT and we still hate Laettner.
Along with his father, Phillip was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elroy and Norma West and John and Juanita Bugg, as well as his stepfather Larry Doninger.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Kathy West Doninger (fiance George Sandusky), his sister, Brianne Shartzer (Bryan), nephews and niece, Cole, Callie, and Crew Shartzer, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, who will forever treasure the days of joyously receiving popcorn tins, re-enacting the Dukes of Hazzard, and laughing together at America's Funniest Home Videos.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, January 16 at Ratterman Southwest, 4832 Cane Run Rd. Phillips' services will be Saturday, January 17 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with a viewing from 9-11 a.m. A private burial will be held "on the hill" at a later date where Phillip often visited his dad, so now they can rest high on that mountain forever...together.
