Cary Calebs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home - St. Matthews on Feb. 19, 2026.
Cary Michael Calebs, 52, passed peacefully on February 10, 2026 surrounded by love after a courageous battle with cancer.

Cary was born on August 23rd, 1973 to Kenneth and Dolores Calebs. He was one in four children. He graduated from St. Xavier High School. He began studies at Emory University and continued at University of Louisville obtaining a BA degree in Humanity and Theatre Arts. Cary worked as a technical sales engineer for FCX Performance/Pump Pros.

Cary was a devoted and loving husband and father. His family was at the center of his world, and he took great pride in the life and love they built together. With a spatula in one hand and a toolbox in the other, he made sure the house was filled with warmth, laughter, and more than a few ongoing projects. He found peace and happiness in golf, hiking, being in nature and quiet moments spent with those he loved most. Cary will be remembered for his steady strength, his kindness and the deep love he gave so freely to his wife and children.

Cary is survived by his wife, Michelle McBride Calebs; his children Holden Calebs, McKenna Keesaer (Robert), Logan Bootes, Isabella Bootes, and Aiden Bootes; grandchildren Robert "Cash" and Callahan Keesaer; siblings Kimberly Calebs (Steve Drake), Lauren Calebs, and Benjamin Calebs (Jackie Ma); and nephew Caleb Zakem. He also leaves behind extended family members including uncles and cousins and dear friends who loved him.

Cary is also survived by his in-laws – George "Wayne" McBride and Gail McBride; two brothers-in-law, George Wesley and Michael McBride.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 27th 2026, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Cherrywood Road, followed by a burial at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, February 26th,2026 at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, St. Matthews.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions to be made to the GoFundMe established in Cary's honor or to a charity supporting cancer research or nature conservation, reflecting causes close to his heart.
