Stephen McEwen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones Funeral Chapel Inc on Feb. 17, 2026.
Stephen P. McEwen, fondly known as Steve, passed away peacefully at his residence in Owensboro, KY, on February 16, 2026. Born on June 9, 1947, in Glasgow, KY, he shared his life's journey for 78 meaningful years, during which he touched the lives of many with his intelligence, adventurous spirit, and analytical mind.

Steve graduated from the J.B. Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville and went on to share his expertise and passion for the field as the proud owner of McEwen Engineering Consults, established in 1981. His commitment to his work was evident in the legacy he leaves within the industry and the countless projects that benefited from his innovative approach.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Steve was a man who embraced life's adventures. He was a proud U of L alumni and sports fan. Steve was an avid NASCAR fan and attended the Daytona 500 for several years and had many travel adventures with his longtime friend, L.B. Fuqua. He also put many miles on his motorcycle in the Smokies and across the U.S.

Steve's role as a family man was central to his life. He is survived by his loving daughters, Melissa Lindsey (Scott Embry) of Morgantown, KY, and Heather Martin (Randal) of Chattanooga, TN. Steve also leaves behind five grandchildren, Ryan Lindsey of Morgantown, KY, Peyton Bratcher (Molly) of Morgantown, KY, Lydia Walker (Lee) of Bowling Green, KY, Lilly Kiellach (Nate) of Chattanooga, TN, and Ellie Martin of Birmingham, AL, as well as five delightful great-grandchildren, Ava and Vivi Lindsey, both of Morgantown, KY, Emily Walker of Bowling Green, KY and Aiden, and Maya Bratcher, both of Morgantown, KY.

He will also be missed by his sisters, Starr Stogner of FL and Jenny Scheper (Guy) of Louisville, KY, and his treasured nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his loving parents, James Paul and Geneva Hunt McEwen, and his brother, Scott McEwen.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. All services are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Chapel.
