Judith McEwen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home on Feb. 13, 2026.
JUDITH A. "JUDY" McEWEN, of Woburn, died peacefully on February 12th with family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late William R. "Bill" McEwen.

Born in Beverly, she was the loving daughter of the late Michael and Marion (Newport) Callahan. She was raised in Newburyport and remained proud of her North Shore roots throughout her life.

Judy was a graduate of the Beverly School of Nursing and dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked for many years as a Registered Nurse, serving as a supervisor at New England Rehabilitation Hospital and over 25 years as a nurse at Fenway Park, where she made many lifelong friends. Through her years there, Judy became a devoted Boston Red Sox fan, and Fenway always held a special place in her heart.

A warm and friendly presence to all who knew her, Judy was social by nature and deeply devoted to her family. She was the proud mother of Julie Fraser and her husband Kevin of Billerica, and Michael McEwen and his wife Lynne of Woburn. She was the cherished grandmother of Christopher Fraser, Kaitlyn Fraser and her fiancé John Chicoine, Molly Fraser, and Billy and Kinnon McEwen. Her grandchildren were truly the joy (and "pumpkins") of her life.

Judy lived her Irish roots and enjoyed visiting her extended family during her trips to Ireland. She spent many treasured summers in New Hampshire at Lake Winnipesaukee, a place she and her family enjoyed since her children were young. In later years, she also enjoyed time spent in Naples, Florida.

Her home was always a welcoming place, especially on Sundays, when family and friends gathered around her table. No one ever left hungry after one of Judy's Sunday dinners, and the warmth, laughter, and love shared there created memories that will be cherished forever.

She was the dear sister and lifelong best friend of Maureen Kravchuk and her husband Al of Newburyport. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours WEDNESDAY, February 18th from 4:00–7:00 p.m. in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated THURSDAY, February 19th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in her memory to Massachusetts General Hospital Oncology.

My sister, Barbara McEwen, was Judy's sister-in-law and I remember her and Bill at his brother's (Ralph) home in Tewksbury on many occasions. They were a lovely couple and I especially remember the warmth that Judy always showed. I was just a young girl of eleven or so but she always made me feel comfortable. I feel for the family's loss and sorry for not being able to attend the funeral. Ellie Waite Eastman
