Robert Allen Calebs , 87, died November 27, 2025, with his family by his side in Louisville, Kentucky.

Known as "Bob" to his friends and family, he was born in Wolf Creek Kentucky on July 3, 1938 to Allen and Bernice Calebs.

Most of Bob's childhood was spent living and working around Fairdale Kentucky. He attended Southern High School, graduating in 1956. While attending high school he met the love of his life and wife of 69 years, Nancy Phillips. They dated and eventually married on August 16, 1957. Bob went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Commerce Degree from the University of Louisville in June 1967.

He started his career as a timekeeper in the Payroll Department at International Harvester in 1956. Over his 28 years there he worked his way up holding various positions until finally becoming the Compensation Planning Manager until the plant closed in 1981.

After leaving International Harvester Bob went to work for Louisville Gas and Electric as the Manager of Compensation until he retired in 1993. During his career he was a member of the American Compensation Association from 1977 to 1991. As well as being a guest lecturer for several years for the University of Louisville Business School.

In his time away from work he was an inventor of toys and puzzles. One of which was granted a U.S. Patent. He was also a member of the Fairdale Masonic Lodge for 60 years and a Kentucky Colonel. In addition, he was a member of the Fern Creek Baptist Church where through his volunteer work was instrumental in the donating of over 50,000 pair of eyeglasses to charity and mission work.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Bernice Calebs.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Calebs; daughter, Susan Waller and grandson, Kurt Waller along with his wife Cara and great granddaughter Kali; son, Robert Calebs Jr. along with his wife Kim; daughter, Lisa Miles along with her husband Ron and granddaughters Jennifer Miles and Allison Angelini; brother, Kenneth Calebs along with his wife Deloris; and many nieces and nephews plus their families.

His funeral is 11am Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Fern Creek Baptist Church, 5920 Bardstown Road. Visitation is 3-7pm Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road. Burial is private.
