Ed Yocum Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fern Creek Funeral Home - Louisville on Dec. 4, 2025.
Oscar Edwin "Ed" Yocum, 87, died November 26, 2025.

He was born January 20, 1938 to the late Virginia Edwina Sigel Yocum and Oscar Caleb Yocum. Ed married the late Zella "Stella" M. England Yocum on January 31, 1956 and Donna Eldridge Yocum on October 6, 1987.

Ed's passion was bringing joy to thousands of people of all ages and walks of life for over 50+ years while portraying Santa. He enjoyed watching sports, especially UK basketball, gardening, fishing, taking a boat ride, baking, watching a beautiful sunset, sitting by a campfire, laughing, reminiscing on the good old days, being involved in or telling a practical joke. He was an avid hummingbird watcher who found joy in spending time with good friends and family, camping at Guist Creek, and playing a game of cards or dominos with special friends. He was one of a kind. He was a generous and loving man who was always willing to go the extra mile to help anyone in need. He never met a stranger and always remembered not only their name but also their story.

Ed attended Southern High School and played in the marching band. He was a United States Navy veteran enlisting in April 1955 and received an Honorable Discharge from active duty in January 1959. He was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church, Louisville, KY. He served his Jeffersontown community as a member of the Taxpayer Party, a City Councilman, and a Building Inspector. He was co-owner of Angel & Yocum Insulation and worked as a truck driver for M&M Cartage. He was a member of Jeffersontown CB Club (Handle: Lil Abner), Good Sam Club (Kentucky Cardinals Chapter), and Jeffersontown Town Lions Club.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela J Yocum Felix; grandson, Joshua B. Coomes; and siblings, Betty Ice (John) and Patricia Elmore.

He survived by his wife, Donna Eldridge Yocum; children, Duane (Julie) Yocum and Tammy (Jimmy) Lee; grandchildren, Heather Felix, Brandon (Chasidy) Yocum, Morgan (Travis) Thayer, Jared (Quinlan) Yocum, Nelson (Shayd) Lee, and Brooke Lee; great grandchildren,

Ramsey, Larkin, Ainsley, Brogan, Greyson, and Rosie; and siblings, Jim (Patricia) Yocum, Cheryl (John) Huchingson, John (Linda) Yocum, and Walter (Roxanne) Yocum.

Visitation is 11am-5pm Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road and includes a funeral service at 12pm, officiated by Rev. Tom Dillard.
