Phillip "Phil" S. Whitman, of Kronenwetter, passed away February 19, 2025, at his home with his wife by his side, along with his fur babies, Louie the dog and Winston the cat. He was under the care of Interim Hospice Healthcare. Phil was born in Chicago, IL on January 27, 1944, to Don and Delilah (Moss) Whitman. He graduated from D.C. Everest High School. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp as a Rifleman during the Vietnam War, earning the rank of Sergeant.
On January 10, 1996, he married Sonya (LaRene) Whitman. He was a truck driver for almost 40 years for various companies. Phil and Sonya lived in Alaska for 3 years, where they enjoyed talking rides and counting how many moose they saw. They moved back to Schofield and bought Rumor Night Club. After he retired, Phil bought his fishing boat and would go salmon fishing at Kewaunee. He didn't always catch fish, but he had a good time just doing what he loved. Phil was able to take the "trip of a lifetime" on the Never Forgotten Honor Flight.
Phil is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sonya, daughters Kimberly (Mark) Hafenbreadl, Tammy (Kurt) LaPorte, 9 grandchildren: Joshua (Jen) Roloff, Cassondra (Dan) Housek, Jordan (Chara) Roloff, Dakota Hafenbreadl, Jackson Hafenbreadl, Alexcia Hafenbreadl, Ashley LaPorte, Nathen (Chardae) LaPorte, Levi LaPorte, 4 great-grandchildren: Aubrey LaPorte, Lane and Sonny LaPorte, Lyla Roloff, Phil is further survived by sister Carol (Gary) Carlson, brothers: Mike (Paula) Whitman, and Kent Whitman, stepsisters: Denise (Rob) Lorenz, Angela Vaughn, Sarah Patten, Stepbrother: Matthew (Diane) Diestler and many nieces and nephews.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, sister Linda Dorshak, stepmother Eileen Whitman, and father-in-law Garth LaRene.
The family would like to thank the staff at Interim Hospice Healthcare, especially Hanna.
A celebration of life will be at a later date.
