Obituary of Philo Webster Chapman

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Philo "Skip" Chapman, who died at home on August 10, at the age of 85. Born on January 18, 1940, in Vineland, NJ, to the late Philo Chapman, Sr. and Virginia (Rushing) Chapman, Skip was a 1958 graduate of Vineland High School and a 1962 graduate of Delaware Valley University. He is survived by his wife, Maxine; his children, Denise Consalo, Kimberly Chapman, and Philo Christopher Chapman (Caroline); and his sister, Lila Motter (Bob) of North Carolina. He leaves behind a legacy in his grandchildren Chelsea, Anthony, Sarah, Philo Caleb, Wyatt, and Angelina - as well as nieces Arianne and Megan, and nephew Ethan. Philo's circle of friends, formed through decades of work and travel, will deeply miss his companionship. Philo was known for his generosity and tireless work ethic. He served as both a director and the president of NJ Manufactured Housing and president of the North East Housing Association. Throughout his career he was recognized with numerous awards including Miller Chemical's salesman of the year. A fourth-generation leader of the Chapman family business in Vineland, Skip founded Chapman Manufactured Housing in 1972 and later partnered in Philo's Development. He also served as a district forest fire warden and was a founding member of the Vineland Regional Dance Company. He will be remembered for his strength, integrity, humor and enduring patience - qualities that shaped every part of his life. A private service was held for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to The Salvation Army.
