Phoebe Clark Heldman

Phoebe Clark Heldman passed over on December 5, 2025, surrounded by her family, just after the full supermoon. With much strength, she had been positively navigating illness for most of the calendar year, aware of God's presence throughout her journey.

She was born on October 23, 1986, and is survived by her parents, Russ and Mimi Heldman; her sisters, Mary Deaton and Mamie; and her grandparents, Marvin Nischan and namesake, Phoebe Clark Nischan.

For those lucky enough to know her, Phoebe Clark was a pure force of originality. Everything she touched was an authentic expression of her creative brilliance and intuition, spanning her painting, curation, and jewelry design. She moved through the world with a rare kind of attention. An avid steward of the earth, she was happiest when spending long, unhurried time on her favorite walking trails or beneath a vast pink sky, collecting wildflowers and keepsakes along the way.

She was deeply passionate in her work at the Waldorf Peapod Playgarden, meeting the children with the same imagination and steady wonder that shaped so much of her life and relationships.

Her friends and family will remember her as fiercely loyal, deeply curious, and in awe of the natural world and its healing qualities.

For family and close friends, a graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Larkspur Conservation at Taylor Hollow, 155 Bear Carr Road, Westmoreland, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to https://friendsofbeamanpark.org, a place that held her heart.

What To Expect At The Natural Burial:

-Choose comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and shoes for a walk to the gravesite.

-Use the restroom before you arrive; there is no public toilet or running water.

-Carpool if possible, as parking is limited.

-Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before service time.

-Everyone will be welcomed at the trailhead by Larkspur staff.

-The casket will be in place at the graveside prior to the arrival of family and friends.

-Guests will hike up the hill into the nature preserve for the burial ceremony (a UTV will be available for those needing mobility assistance).

-Benches will be available for sitting during the ceremony.

-The casket will be lowered into the grave, and everyone will have an opportunity to place a handful or shovelful of soil into the grave until it is closed and covered with flowers.

-Please plan for approximately 2.5–3 hours for the ceremony and burial.
