Phoebe (Reese) Holmes, a longtime resident of Wildhorse Oklahoma, was born in Westville Oklahoma to Andy Reese and Lillie (McClung) Reese on October 4th, 1923. She was the fifth child of eight children. She came to Wildhorse with her parents as a young child and started in the Wildhorse School in the second grade and stayed at Wildhorse for the remainder of her school days. Phoebe loved sports, she played basketball, volleyball, and softball.

Phoebe married Milton Holmes on May 15th, 1940. They left Wildhorse to work in Skiatook and Pryor Oklahoma for about 3 years, then returned to Wildhorse. They had a Grade A Dairy for several years; they milked several cows and sold the milk to Hawks dairy in Tulsa. In 1957 they decided to turn the dairy into ranching. Phoebe helped with milking and ranching to whatever needed to be done.
Phoebe and Milton were charter members of the Oak Hill Baptist Church in Wildhorse area. She taught Sunday School at Oak Hill Church for 21 years. They later joined the Prue Baptist Church, and she taught Sunday School there for 21 years. Later, they joined First Baptist Church in Hominy. As of 2015 she had lived on the home place in Wildhorse for 73 years. Phoebe and Milton were married 68 years.

Phoebe was preceded in death by her husband Milton; her parents; two brothers Jesse Reese and J.D. Reese, five sisters, Ara Weaver, Faye Weaver, Thelma Jones, Beatrice Reese, and Oleta Toothman.

Phoebe is survived by several nephews and nieces; several great nephews and nieces; several great great nephews and nieces, and two special friends, Gene, and Rita Mills.
