Phylisse Bowen Obituary

Phylisse L. Harrison Bowen
Phylisse L. (Cote) Harrison Bowen, 83, of Glastonbury and previous longtime resident of Vernon, beloved wife to the late Edward F. Harrison and late Richard J. Bowen, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Despite facing Alzheimer's disease for many years, Phylisse remained a loving and witty presence to her family. She was born on January 7, 1942, in Woonsocket, RI, one of six children to the late Philippe Cote and Marianne (Auger) Cote.
Phylisse began her professional life as a switchboard operator at Blackstone Valley Electric, where she met and married her first husband, Eddie, in 1967, they raised two children before his passing in 1975. A new chapter began in 1978 when she married her second husband, Rick, blending their families to raise four children. Pursuing her lifelong love of beauty and fashion Phylisse worked at Mary Kay Cosmetics and a local bridal boutique. Known for her infectious love of life, Phylisse cherished simple joys like a morning cup of coffee, walks on the beach in Provincetown, a stiff manhattan, or her famous Christmas Whiskey Punch. A sought-after presence in the kitchen, Phylisse was known for staples like her spaghetti and meatballs or pecan pies. Artistically, she leaves a legacy of creativity as an oil painter and a gifted seamstress with many family heirlooms to show. Above all else, her greatest joy in life was her family. She wholeheartedly embraced her role as a loving Mémère, always present and endlessly proud to support and celebrate the accomplishments of her grandchildren.
Phylisse is survived by her four children, Deanna Hutchinson and her husband Bill of Rochester, NH; Amy Richardson and her husband Jim of Southborough, MA; Scott Harrison and his wife Jane of Glastonbury, CT; and Mary-Anne Bowen of Raleigh, NC. Phylisse was a loving Mémère to nine grandchildren: Emily, Hannah and husband Michael, and Megan; James, Matthew, Audrey; Natalie, Sophie, Eliana, and great-grandmother to Callie. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Connie Cote of RI; her extended family, including Elaine Jasmin of Woonsocket, RI, and her children, Christopher and Lauren Jasmin; and some very dear friends. Phylisse was predeceased by her parents and five siblings: Louise Lussier, Suzanne Laflamme, Paul Cote, Vivianne Duquette, and Clarisse Sabourin.
