Phyllis Becker Obituary
Phyllis S. Becker, 87, of Norris City passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Wabash Senior Living in Carmi. She was born on October 13, 1937 in Hamilton County, IL the daughter of Monroe B. and Mattie L. (Peyton) Smith. Phyllis married William R. "Bill" Becker on April 5, 1957. Phyllis and Bill founded Becker Oil where she worked as the bookkeeper. She was a member of the Norris City United Methodist Church and Eastern Star. Phyllis loved to garden and tend to her flowers, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bill; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and David Hunsinger of Carmi; four grandchildren, Danielle (Vance) Burzynski, Lauren (Cole) Fechtig, Andrew (Kelsi) Hunsinger and Alex (Allie) Hunsinger; and six great-grandchildren, Grover, Albert, Emmett and Lottie Burzynski and Lane and Abigail Fechtig. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Brent Ray Becker on November 1, 1985 and two brothers, Kenneth and Junior Smith.
The family would like to thank all of the caretakers and staff at Wabash Senior Living for the great care of Phyllis and the family during her time there.
Funeral services for Phyllis S. Becker, 87, of Norris City will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Entombment will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norris City. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Phyllis' memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or Shriners Hospital for Children and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home or by mail to 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821
