We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our mother, Phyllis (Beagle) Beley, who passed away at the age of 91 on January 8, 2026, at her home, with Beth and Robyn by her side. Beth and Kevin served as her primary caregivers for numerous years. She was born to Clyal Beagle and Mary (Stout) on April 11, 1934, in Jackson, Michigan, and later moved to Toledo in the 1950s.Mom had many joys in life with her beloved husbands, Richard Begel, George Russell, Michael Beley and Ted Begg and nine children. Mom, a true survivor, navigated through multiple rough periods, having to be "one tough cookie" to make it through being widowed 3 times.
Mom's life was a beautiful melody, filled with music that brought her immense joy and love. With a natural talent that blossomed at a young age, she masterfully played the organ by ear, her skills harmoniously unfolding with each passing day. Though she never had formal training in reading music, her gift allowed her to beautifully interpret any song she laid ears on. Singing in the church choir was another cherished experience she delighted in. Mom took pride in being part of the American Legion Arthur Daly post #334 Ladies Auxiliary, actively participating in numerous parades and community events in the early 1970s. Her green thumb cultivated lovely flower gardens wherever she lived, reflecting the beauty she sowed in the lives around her.
Mom's legacy will continue to inspire her children, Donna Russell, George Russell, Janet Wright, Larry Begel, Vikki Mumford, Dennis Russell, Robyn (Frank) Modlin, Beth (Kevin Amos) Beley, and Michelle, along with her sister Wanda Pieper, 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and friends to forge a brighter future.
Phyl was preceded in death by her parents Clyal Beagle and Mary Brownell, brother Arthur Beagle, sister Carol Collier and husbands George Russell, Michael Beley and Ted Begg. May she rest in eternal love. Your music and laughter will forever be treasured in our hearts Momma. Memorial gifts may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
This summer, we will come together to joyfully celebrate Mom's life and lasting impact on a date that will be announced later.
