Phyllis Gayle Bias, age 89, passed away at home on January 26, 2026. She was born on March 15, 1936 in Hebardville, Ohio to Charles and Minnie (Barron) Hudnell. Post high school she worked, then retired from the JCPenney's warehouse.
Phyllis was one who lived on her own terms, going places, learning new things, trying this and trying that, but with a focus to care for others, especially her friends and family. She loved art, creating masterpieces that dazzled her family. Ultimately she was known for her deep love and caring of her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all family--she was fully present.
Phyllis was preceded in death by husband, Roy Lester Bias Jr., her parents Charles Arnold and Minnie Mildred Hudnell; her son, Doug Bias; and her brothers, Joseph "Joe" and James "Jim" Hudnell; and her sister, Patricia Barnhouse.
Those who will miss her art, her smile, and love are her children, Donna Bias, Paula and Paul Armentrout, Philip and Lori Bias, Roger and Angela "Ange" Bias;
Her grandchildren, Kelly Alexander, Astoria and Jay Wilson, Andrew and Angie Bias, Matthew and Melissa Bias, Russell and Brittany Carter, Roy III and Kyrie Bias, Kyle and Rebecca Boddie, Cassie and Crystal Earley, Zachary Bias and Alyssa Webb, Alisha and Stephen Hartshorne, Jeremy and Heather Armentrout, and Christopher Armentrout;
Her great-grandchildren, Abby Wilson, Chance Wilson, Hayden and Olivia Wilson, Bella Wilson, Nolan Bias, Joseph Bias, Landon Bias, Kaylin Bias, Hailey Bias, Wyatte Melvin, Kevin and Ashton Caldwell, Alex and Izzy Caldwell, MaKylie Boggs, Mya Boggs, Kenai Carter, Reign Carter, Maddie Bias, Rogue Carter, Rage Carter, Riot Carter, Paelynn Boddie, Aubrina Boddie, Remi Boddie, Kyle Boddie Jr., Roy L Bias IV, Jordan Armentrout, Abby Armentrout, Dylan Armentrout, Adam Armentrout, and Beau Bias;
Her great-great grandchildren, Maverick Caldwell, Boone Caldwell, and Andie Ann Mercer.
She is also survived by her siblings, Marlene Russell, Donny Hudnell, and Mona (Krantz) Reed.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm at Jersey Church, 13260 Morse Road SW,
New Albany, Ohio. Service begins immediately after at 2:30 pm with Pastor John Hayes, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Maplewood Cemetery,
New Albany, Ohio at 12 noon, Monday, February 2, 2026.
