With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Phyllis Lorraine Buck-Brown, she departed this life on July 19, 2025, at the age of 77. She was born on February 3, 1948, in Prince Frederick, Maryland, to the late LeRoy and Carrie Buck (the first born). She was a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend.

Phyllis lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, giving, thinking of others, being supportive, a great listener and comforter, being neighborly, quiet strength, and humor.

She loved sending greeting cards to friends and family for every occasion, old friends that she went to school with and to friends she had just met. She loved doing crosswords and other puzzles and her son would buy puzzle books for her as gifts. She loved to cook and shared and swapped recipes with family and friends. She enjoyed playing board and card games with friends and family and playing bingo at Avamere at Three Fountains long term care home. Perry Mason was her favorite television show until the end.

She will be truly missed; she enriched the lives of all the people she touched.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, A. L. Brown; brother, Leroy Buck, Jr.; and sister, Estelle Buck. She leaves her son, Wayne Buck; sisters Carolyn King, Dorothy James, Helen Shamwell, Evelyn Rowell (Alton), Bonnie Buck-Wade (Calvin); sister-in-law Joyce Buck and her brother Lenwood Buck to carry on the family name. Her childhood and lifelong friends Faynette Johnson, Philis Hurley, and Susan Harris. She also leaves behind three aunts, two nieces, four nephews, nine great-nephews, many cousins, and close friends. A special thank you to the Wonderful Wacky Women (Mary, Joy, Audrey, Georgia and Charlene) who supported Phyllis in every way after the death of her beloved husband.
