Goodbye our sweet angel.
Phyllis J (LeBlanc) Cheeseman of Hinesburg, VT rejoined her husband John K Cheeseman, II and a number of dearly missed family members in heaven on May 6th, 2023.
Phyllis was a tiny, sweet, but fierce woman, with a voice so loud you could hear her for at least a block when she hollered for you; just ask her sons.
Phyllis was absolutely in love with her family, she looked forward to her daily scheduled calls with her sons, daughter in law, and grandkids. No matter how much time you spent with her, it never felt like enough. Holidays and Sunday dinners were her passion and you had better be there. Phyllis had several other past times some were baking, gardening, watching a "cop show" or two on TV, and most recently getting together with her friends for lunch. The highlight of her week was always seeing her friends at Bingo every other Tuesday. Phyllis was a devout Catholic, for years she regularly attended St. Jude's Church in Hinesburg, she also has one of the largest angel collections you could imagine.
Phyllis worked in the cafeteria of CVU for several years, where she made some lifelong friends. She dearly loved seeing and interacting with all the kids who went through her line. Prior to working at CVU she provided daycare services in her home, where she was Memere to many of the children she cared for. To this day she is still friendly with some of the children. Phyllis was an incredibly hard worker but always found the silver lining in it, she was also incredibly stoic and rarely ever complained.
There is so much more that could be said about her and her character, but her family can tell you that, as the matriarch and glue of our family; her loss will be felt for years to come. If you had an opportunity to meet Phyllis, you will truly feel blessed to have known this angel and will miss her every day.
Phyllis leaves two sons, John K Cheeseman, III and his partner Monica Nordstrom of St George, VT; and Keith Cheeseman and his wife Phyllis A Cheeseman, of Baldwinville, MA; one granddaughter, Sandra Claflin and her husband Daniel of Jeffersonville, VT; a grandson Gary Cheeseman of St George, VT; one great grandson William John Claflin of Jeffersonville, VT; two sisters, Betty Nikander of Fitchburg, MA and Susan Landry and her husband, Michael of NewBrunswick, Canada. She was predeceased by her husband (of nearly 62 years) John K Cheeseman, II; her parents Maurice and Bertha (Bastarache) LeBlanc; and three brothers, Norbert LeBlanc, Joseph LeBlanc, and Paul LeBlanc. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins in MA and Canada.
The Cheeseman family would like to send their genuine heartfelt thanks for the exceptional care, support, and kindness provided by the UVMMC Medicine team, Resource staff and Miller 5 staff to Phyllis during this most difficult time. The entire staff at UVMMC went above and beyond to not only comfort Phyllis but to care for the entire family words cannot thank the staff for how blessed we felt to have them there for us.
Funeral Service for Phyllis will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Hinesburg, VT with burial immediately following the service at the Hinesburg Village Cemetery.
