Phyllis Samuelson Duzmal was born in Chicago on May 11, 1927 and entered to rest on May 12, 2024, one day after her 97th birthday. She had a full life filled with love and family. In the early years she worked at E.H. Sargents where she met her future husband, Walter. They were married for a little over 58 years. The family moved to California in 1964 where she lovingly raised her family. In later years she worked for her son as an optometric assistant.
She was an active member of Santa Teresa church in San Jose where she was a member of the Golden Gems and also their Layette Group where she knit, crocheted and quilted baby blankets that were distributed from the church and the diocese of San Jose. She also bowled on a league with her daughter for many years. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed making the most delicious pizza for her family.
She is survived by her loving children, son David Duzmal and wife Katie, daughters Judy Reyes and husband Al, Susan Cutsforth and husband Craig, grandchildren Kristin, Blake, Nicholas, Adam and Alex and great-granddaughter Kaycee, and her brother Alan Samuelson as well as numerous niece and nephews that she loved dearly.
Friends and Family are invited to attend a celebration of life and mass at 3pm on Wednesday May 22nd at Santa Teresa Church at 794 Calero Ave, San Jose CA 95123. Reception to follow at Avila Hall at the church. Any donations can be made to Santa Teresa Church, Santa Teresa Layette group or your favorite charity.
